If you’re in the mood for a delightfully creamy dessert that captures the essence of ripe bananas, then you have to try this luscious Banana Custard!

It’s not only easy to whip up but also packs a punch of flavor that’s perfect for any occasion. Whether enjoyed on its own or as an accompaniment to your favorite cake, this Banana custard is sure to impress.

This recipe is special to me because it brings back sweet memories of my childhood when my grandmother would make an incredibly rich banana pudding for family gatherings.

Every bite was a comforting reminder of home and happiness. This banana custard is my modern take on that classic dish and continually brings a smile to my face!

    Recipe Ingredients

1 cup milk: Fresh whole milk adds creaminess to the custard.

2 very ripe medium bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful the custard.

½ teaspoon vanilla: Pure vanilla extract enhances the flavor profile.

2 large egg yolks: These provide richness and help thicken the custard.

¼ cup granulated sugar: Sweetens the custard perfectly.

1 tablespoon cornstarch: Aiding in achieving that smooth, thick texture.

1 tablespoon butter at room temperature: Adds a rich depth of flavor to the custard.

In a small saucepan simmer mashed bananas, milk and butter.

Whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch

Slowly combine the milk with the egg mixture, whisking continuously.

Press the banana pulp gently through a fine-mesh to strain all the custard.

Tips and Tricks to Nail the Recipe

    • Make sure your bananas are very ripe for the best flavor and sweetness.
    • Allow the custard to cool slightly before straining for easier handling.
    • You can substitute the vanilla with almond extract for a unique twist.
    • Serve it chilled with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an extra touch.
