Get ready to indulge in a delightful treat with these luscious Black Forest Cookies. Bursting with the rich flavors of chocolate and the refreshing tartness of cherries, these cookies are a fantastic way to satisfy your sweet cravings. Perfect for any occasion, they strike the right balance between decadent and fruity, making them an irresistible dessert choice!

This Black Forest Cookies recipe holds a special place in my heart as it combines two of my favorite ingredients: chocolate and cherries. Growing up, my grandmother would bake cherry treats throughout the summer, and this cookie recipe is a delicious twist on her classic desserts. Every bite transports me back to those warm afternoons in her kitchen, making these cookies a delicious reminder of cherished memories.

    Recipe Ingredients

All-purpose flour: 1 ¼ cups, for the base of the cookies.

Unsweetened cocoa powder: ¼ cup, adds a rich chocolate flavor.

Baking soda: ½ teaspoon, helps the cookies rise slightly.

Salt: ¼ teaspoon, enhances the sweetness and balances the flavors.

Unsalted butter: ¼ cup (113 grams), softened for a creamy texture.

Brown sugar: ¾ cup, lends a deeper sweetness and moisture.

Large egg: 1, to bind the ingredients together.

Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon, for a lovely aromatic hint.

Semi-sweet chocolate chips: ¾ cup, plus extra for garnish, for that chocolatey indulgence.

Chopped cherries: ½ cup, plus extra for garnish, to add a burst of fruity flavor.

Blend softened butter with brown sugar, add egg and vanilla extract mix until uniform consistency.

Combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add cherries and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Drop a portion of dough onto the baking sheet and bake for 13-15 minutes

    Let them cool completely

Tips and Tricks to Nail the Recipe

    • Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easier mixing and a smoother dough.
    • If you have leftovers, store the cookies in an airtight container to maintain their freshness for up to a week.
    • Feel free to substitute fresh cherries with dried cherries if you want a different texture and a more concentrated sweetness.
    • These cookies pair beautifully with a glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert!
